Tutoring allows me to engage in one of the most enjoyable aspects of teaching: helping students find their own distinct narratives. I tutor-- 

 

• College Application Essays: I help students move from brainstorming topics through final polishing.  Whether students are using the Common Application prompts, the University of California topics or the additional prompts for various colleges and universities, they will craft stronger essays and introduce their strengths to the admissions committees.

• Supplemental Essays: Nearly every school on the Common App requires a number of supplemental essays. I will help students select topics that highlight their multiple interests and experiences. Most importantly, through our discussion, I help ensure that the students demonstrate their own reflection on their experiences.

 

• Additional application support: As we work on essays, we may puzzle through other parts of the application process, including how to ask for an effective recommendation, how to think about interview strategies, how to look for different college choices, and how to stay organized through the application process.

• General Writing Support:  From syntax to polished argument, I help move students through all aspects of writing.  I create individualized plans to meet each student's needs.  

 

Individual tutoring starts at $125/hour. I charge an additional fee for last-minute editing.

Cancellation: to avoid a cancellation fee, students must notify me 24 hours in advance.
